DEI Workshops

DEI Learning Programs

Conduct a DEI learning program to support your people in embedding DEI into their day-to-day responsibilities. Using an intergroup dialogue approach, I facilitate discussion-based learning and development programs that build from session to session for groups up to 30 participants.

How I Do This Work

Highly Participatory

The most effective sessions reach their objectives by making attendees active participants in the process. I design experiences that invite participants to co-create spaces for shared engagement through thoughtfully-designed opportunities for perspective-sharing and deep exploration. Along the way, I incorporate a range of activities that recognize the many different learning styles and modes of engagement that people hold.

Scaffolded Learning

I build experiences that meet people where they are. My facilitation focuses on building upon prior knowledge so participants have an entry point to dive deeper into conversation. I aim for “the sweet spot” — facilitated sessions that are not so challenging that they overwhelm, yet challenging enough to push people beyond their comfort zone for meaningful engagement. As we continue the journey, I look for the right moments to build further.

Adaptive Applications

A workshop that only focuses on delivering information could be an email. Likewise, a workshop that focuses on learning a generalized skill, applied indiscriminately, could be a step-by-step checklist. The value of a workshop is the opportunity to tease out the nuance, and I structure my facilitation with this approach in mind. By blending theory and practice, I guide participants in building knowledge and solutions that fit their context.

Liberatory Framework

Using Dr. Barbara J. Love’s liberatory consciousness framework, my DEI facilitation guides us through four components: 1) awareness of issues and the world around us, 2) analysis of why these issues persist and what we can do, 3) action to address these issues, and 4) accountability/allyship to sustain our engagement. With this approach, I help people build the understanding and skill to move from conceptual awareness to concrete action.
